I learned a lot from my dad, including hard work. As I’ve mentioned before, I grew up on a farm, so there was never a shortage of work to do.
I distinctly remember helping my dad move pigs. I’d hold a solid gate (a piece of board, really) behind the ramp and hide so the pig couldn’t see me. Meanwhile, my dad would bring the pig down the alley way, so it would go up the ramp into its pen. I was a little scared, but my dad assured me he needed me help, so I had the courage to hold the gate steady.
My parents still farm, but its fun to see them travel and not work quite as hard raising five kids at home.
So, here’s to Dad. And his best Baileys ice cream shakes in the world — in my book.
