It’s hard to believe that back to school gear is available in the retail stores already, while sandals are clearance. (Which is good news for me, since some just broke down on me!) Lots of my co-workers are squeezing in last-minute vacations with their kids to Disney, etc.
We didn’t take many “traditional” vacations growing up. We took some time in the summer or around the holidays to visit extended family in Ohio. Sure, we got to take juice boxes on the road and sleep in a little (no farm chores!), but the seven of us didn’t go to the Bahamas every year. In fact, I didn’t visit Disney World until I was 21. Looking back, I just didn’t know any different; that’s just what we did. I got to see aunts, uncles and cousins, and then visit D.C. and Mount Rushmore. Our yearly Adventureland trip in Des Moines was Disney to us. (By the way, I have nothing against Disney or the Bahamas!)
Did you take vacations growing up? Where do you take your kids?
